Siyum Hashas
This year’s Siyum Hashas was truly a grand affair, both ברוחניות and בגשמיות. Talmidim of the Yeshiva completed shas fifty-five times, including a number of siyumim on Talmud Yerushalmi Le’illuy Nishmas the Rosh Yeshiva Zatzal. The actual Siyum celebration took place on the 27th of Cheshvan in the new Pinsk-Karlin Hall, which is spacious enough to hold the thousands of attendees. Beautifully decorated in deep blue and gold, its double level dais, bleachers, and beautiful aesthetics reflected the significance of the milestone. Gracing the event were many Rabbanim and talmidei chachamim; the special ruach and lively, spontaneous dancing was enhanced with the gifted singing of the renowned Ahrele Samet.
Providentially, the Siyum took place during annual American Yarchei Kallah; this enabled many visiting alumni to participate and even lead this memorable simcha. R’ Aryeh Weiss was honored with being the mesayem and R’ Moshe Caller, also a Yarchei Kallah attendee, was called upon to recite the Hadran.
The father of R’ Yanky Vorshauer z”l, a choshuve avreich in Yeshiva who was niftar suddenly and whose shloshim occurred close to the date of the siyum, was chosen to say Kaddish.
Among other speakers the siyum was graced with divrei bracha from HaGaon Harav Dov Landau Shlita, Rosh Yeshivas Slabodka, and Hagaon Harav Avigdor Neventzahl Shlita, Rav of the Old City.
During his remarks, the Rosh Hayeshiva Shlita encouraged even the talmidim and yedidim who were returning to their homes abroad to join the bnei hayeshiva in finishing Shas for the next siyum in the coming year.
