Five Towns/Far Rockaway Shabbos with the Mir
Five Towns/Far Rockaway Shabbos with the Mir took place on Parshas Vayechi with the participation of the Rosh Yeshiva Hagaon Harav Binyomin Carlebach Shlita and Harav Hagaon Yosef Elefant Shlita.
Rav Carlebach spoke and davened on Friday night at Beis Medrash Heichal Dovid and on Shabbos morning at Khal Agudas Achim, led by Rav Elisha Horowitz. Rav Elefant spoke and davened on Friday night at the White Shul and Shabbos morning at Kehilas Beis Yisroel, led by Rav Elisha Sandler. A beautiful Oneg Shabbos was held on Friday night, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Hofstedter. “Strengthening the Yesodos Habayis” was the topic for discussion, with attendance limited to married men. On Shabbos afternoon, Rav Carlebach joined the Agudas Yisroel of Long Island for Mincha and Shalosh Seudos; Rav Elefant was hosted by the Bais Medrash of Lawrence.
On Motzei Shabbos, over two hundred Mir alumni from the Greater New York area gathered for a festive Melava Malka Reunion hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Akiva Glatzer. It was a highly enjoyable and meaningful event, with zemiros and musical accompaniment. The Shabbos of Chizuk has fortified the entire community with renewed chizuk and inspiration; the special connection between Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim and its alumni and friends in the area has been renewed and strengthened.
