Baltimore Shabbos of Chizuk and Benefit Reception
Two of the Yeshiva’s eminent Rabbeim – Harav Hagaon Moshe Aaron Friedman Shlita and Harav Hagaon Elimelech Reznick Shlita – spent Shabbos Parshas Beha’aloscha in Baltimore, where they visited shuls and delivered words of chizuk in various neighborhoods across the city. Two talmidim opened their homes for Oneg Shabbos on Friday night: Mr. and Mrs. Alex Berlin hosted Rav Friedman; Mr. and Mrs. Shimon Marciano hosted Rav Reznick. The memorable Shabbos culminated in a beautiful Alumni Melave Malka on Motzei Shabbos, graced with the presence of both Rabbeim.
“We came to inspire others,” Rav Reznick pointed out, “but we turned to be the ones who were truly inspired, after reconnecting with so many talmidim from the past two decades. One talmid recalled the entire shmuess that I said after the fall of the Twin Towers!”
The Rosh Yeshiva, Hagaon Harav Nachman Levovitz Shlita – accompanied by his son Rav Shmuel – arrived on Sunday and met with alumni and friends in anticipation of the Annual Benefit Reception on Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. And Mrs. Gil Horwitz. The guest speaker, Rabbi Yechiel Spero, underscored how the Mir imbues in its talmidim the all-encompassing tzurasa d’shmeitsa – how a talmid’s day should be structured, Torah, middos, hasmada – thereby putting them on a strong footing for life. Rabbi Spero then recalled a time when the Rosh Hayeshiva, Rav Nosson Tzvi zt”l addressed the crowd at a fundraiser with the following request, “Before deciding on the size of your donation, please close your eyes for a moment and think about who and where you’d be today if you hadn’t learned in the Mir…..”
