Neshei event for wives of Avreichim
Motzaei Shabbos Parshas Bo the Neshei of Mir arranged a beautiful Melave Malka for the wives of English-speaking avreichim.
Many of the attendees finally got to meet the wife of the man their husband spends the bulk of their day with, his chavrusa, as well as those of the Rosh Chabura and other members of the chabura whose names they hear so often.
After meeting the Rebbetzins, many of the women are reminded of what it means to be part of Mishpachas Mir. They understand why, despite being one of thousands, their husbands don’t feel like just a number; they are remembered and acknowledged as a key component in an entity that is greater than the sum of its parts. Many will go on to strengthen the connection they forged at the N’shei by turning to one of the Rebbetzins for advice or assistance, or even a request for their tefillos during a difficult time.
While a video provided a rare glimpse of the Torah atmosphere in the Yeshiva’s Batei Medrash, many spotted their husbands on the screen; all were warmed by the sight of the lofty purpose of their own daily sacrifice. Rabbi Shraga Kallus spoke of the impact of a woman’s role in her husband’s learning; Rebbetzin Rina Tarshish spoke of Tu B’shvat and the way a Torahdig woman looks at the world; what are her dreams and aspirations. Her husband provides the Torah, but the manner in which she respects and acts towards Torah is transmitted to the children and enriches them with Ahavas Hatorah.
A video presentation featuring Harav Aharon Lopiansky Shlita speaking about the Mir, its personalities and history, and how the Roshei Yeshiva respect and encourage each other for who they are, transcending boundaries of age and family. This was followed by a captivating presentation from five generations of talmidim of the Mir from the Hartman-Samson family, unrelated to the families associated with the Yeshiva’s Hanhalla. The event concluded with live music and singing.
